PEMIKIRAN LIM GUAN ENG (PART 1)

Petikan 1

“a tyrannical government is more fearful than tigers” – Malaysians interests can be best protected by reducing the strength of UMNO’s allies and agent in MCA and GERAKAN to send message of rejecting UMNO’s dominance and its unfair and divisive policies” (16/1/08)

Petikan 2

“it is not just UMNO’s failed policies such as the discriminatory NEP but also divise policies of establishing an Islamic state, denial of fundamental human rights freedoms of religion, tolerance of corruption, refusal to share the country’s wealth to reduce the hardships of inflation, failure to combat crime and lack of respect for the rule of law that has disturbed and angered many Malaysians” (16/1/08)

Petikan 3

“so dominating is UMNO that even MCA Vice President Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn publicly concedes that UMNO and MCA are not equal but UMNO is the boss whilst MCA is a mere no 2. Under UMNO’s dominance, the only logical alternative left to send a strong message of disapproval to UMNO is to defeat or reduce the votes of UMNO’s allies and agents such as MCA and GERAKAN. Ong is trying to create fear that there will be no Chinese representation in government”(16/1/08)

Petikan 4

“UMNO’s dominance is the largest threat to the survival of democracy in Malaysia. The last occasion the people reduced the votes or seats obtained by UMNO’s allies in MCA and GERAKAN in the 1990 general election, UMNO listened. On 28.2.1991 then Prime Minister Tun Mahathir made about turn and copied DAP’s Malaysian Malaysia in calling for a Bangsa Malaysia. After securing landslide wins in 2004 general election,UMNO and bn government has rejected bangsa Malaysia in favors of Ketuanan Melayu. The people should elect wakil rakyats that listened to the rakyat and not those that listened only UMNO.”(16/1/08)

Petikan 5

“urges opening up of all government contracts, projects and procurement to both Bumi and non-bumi contractors based on public and open tender”(16/1/08 (b))

Petikan 6

“ by changing only this directive before the general elections, this is one of those political goodies to be distributed BN to buy votes and win over voters in Chinese community. DAP hopes that the BN government does not treat non-bumi voters especially the Chinese community, as political beggars that can be bought and sold cheaply with these political goodies.”(16/1/08(b))

Petikan 7

“DAP also ask why is non-bumi contractors are still non-allowed to bid and tender for government contract. By baring non-bumi contractors from bidding for government projects, both MCA and the BN government is practicing discriminatory policies that creates first and second/third or fourth class citizenship.” (16/1/08(b))

Petikan 8

“the time has come to end such discrimination of government procurement, government contract and projects at all levels. By doing this small and limited step only before general elections to buy votes, what is there to stop the Finance Ministry from cancelling such a directive after they have won votes? There should be a general and complete policy departure from the new economic policy favoring bumi companies only and not piecemeal micro-changes before general elections to buy votes”(16/1/08(b))

Petikan 9

“every victory and vote recorded by MCA, GERAKAN and MIC is an endorsement of UMNO’s dominance, divisive and discriminatory policies that poses the largest threat to the survival of democracy in Malaysia”(17/1/08)

Petikan 10

“MCA president Ong Ka Ting’s claim that a vote for DAP cannot be translated as a vote against UMNO is not only illogical but also immature. if a vote for MCA is not equal to vote a vote for UMNO, why is MCA still in BN obediently supporting UMNO’s corrupt, divisive and discriminatory policies that resulted in the highest income inequality between the rich and poor in South-East Asia” (17/1/08)

Petikan 11

“ …to cover-up its failure to reduce corruption and income disparity between the rich and poor, BN practices UMNO’s system of apartheid stressing Malay dominance to divide the people.”(17/1/08)

Petikan 12

“UMNO’s apartheid divides Malaysians between bumis and non-bumis, with an unspoken graded citizenry of first to fifth-class citizenship comprising UMNO leaders as first-class citizens, followed by BN leaders, muslim bumis, non-muslim bumis and finally the fifth class citizens of non-muslim non bumis. instead of stressing equal opportunities and assistance based on needs, the new economic policy has been perverted to stress on perverted to stress on preferential policies of quotas and race”(17/1/08)

Petikan 13

“MCA has blindly supported such discriminatory and divisive policies that have helped to strengthen UMNO’s dominance in BN and government until its own MCA vice-president Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn admitted that MCA is no 2 to UMNO’s no 1, and cannot sit as equals on the same table as UMNO. As staunch and compliant allies of UMNO, every victory and vote recorded by MCA, MIC and GERAKAN is endorsement of UMNO’s dominance, devise and discriminatory policies”(17/1/08)

Petikan 14

“that is why UMNO’s dominance is not only the arch-nemesis of DAP and Malaysians, but also the largest threat to the survival of democracy in Malaysia.”(17/1/08)

Petikan 15

“Confucius famous moral lesson that “tyrannical government is more fearful than tigers” can only be fully absorbed if we also distance ourselves from those who prop up and support such a tyrannical government. As supporters of UMNO, MCA and GERAKAN cannot disclaim responsibilities for the abuses of power and excesses by UMNO”(17/1/08)

Petikan 16

“UMNO’s dominance has not only denied Malaysians our rightful share in the benefits of economic development but also caused the loss of our fundamental freedoms and basic human rights. Nation building based on national unity of Bangsa Malaysia, justice, democracy and freedom is more permanent and sustainable than divide and rule policy of fears, racial threats, discrimination and oppression.”(17/1/08)
